There was a fierce fight in the French second division when Grenoble and Valence Romance saw red.
The moment came on matchday ten of the Pro D2 campaign, with the two teams separated by just four points after an hour of play.
Former Dragons player and Wales international Sam Davies started for Grenoble and had six shots on goal, helping his team win 35-19 at home. He could be seen on the verge of a fight, but did not intervene.
It all started when South African striker Gareth Milasinovic was tackled by Valencia defenders, who were very close to the try line.
Things got a little heated with some verbal confrontations, but once the pushing and shoving started, things got heated and the referee was unable to calm him down.
It got to the point where the players grabbed each other by the neck right next to the bench and just a few meters from the fans.
The shirt fight eventually dissipated and the referee showed two red cards: one for Valencia’s Andrea Pontagnier and another for Grenoble’s Thibaut Martel.
It seemed a little unusual for the referee to have carded Martel (blindside, number six) rather than Milasinovic (substitute, number 16), with the latter being the instigator of the brutal sequence.
You can watch the fight below.
