The Jumbo-Visma cycling team has a new name: Team Visma-Lease a Bike

The Jumbo Visma cycling team will continue its activities under the name Team Visma-Lease a Bike as of January 1. Software company Visma will replace supermarket chain Jumbo as main sponsor and Lease a Bike will become the new second title sponsor. Both companies signed indefinite contracts.

With Jumbo leaving the main sponsorship, the Dutch cycling team had to look for a new sponsor. At the end of October, team boss Richard Plugge announced that a new main sponsor had been found to provide security “for a very long time”. The name remained a secret.

The team found internal financial support through Bicycle Rental. Lease a Bike is jointly owned by Dutch multinational family Pon and Volkswagen Financial Services and joined the cycling team as a sub-sponsor earlier this year.

“Thanks to Visma and Lease a Bike, the team has the resources to develop and improve,” explains Plugge. “Last year we proved once again that we can grow and achieve success together. “This is also our common goal in the long term.”

Jumbo-Visma has become the best cycling team in the world in recent years. This year the team completed a unique treble with Primoz Roglic’s victory in the Giro d’Italia, Jonas Vingegaard’s victory in the Tour de France and Sepp Kuss’ final victory in the Vuelta a España.

Next year the Visma-Lease a Bike team will have to do without Roglic. The 34-year-old Slovenian continues his career at Bora-hansgrohe. On Thursday, December 21, the Team Visma-Lease a Bike team will present its new corporate identity and goals for the coming year.
