Running talent Laros will “normally” participate in the European Cross Country Championship after successes on the track

Running talent Niels Laros will compete in the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels on 16 and 17 December.

Laros, who is only 18 years old, attracted attention with her fast times of 1,500 meters this year on the track where she will run at the Olympic Games next year. He has been running cross country since he was a child.

At the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest in August, Laros surprisingly advanced from the semi-finals to the final with a Dutch record of 3.32.74. In the final, he improved his own record with a time of 3:31.25.

And a few weeks later he broke the Dutch mile record at the Diamond League final in Eugene.

Laros is part of the delegation of eighteen runners representing the Netherlands in the European cross-country championship race. She runs in the age group up to 20 years old in Laeken Park in Brussels.

Tesfu and Van der Marel

In the senior category, Filmon Tesfu (fourth at Warandeloop in Tilburg last Sunday) and Merel van der Marel (third at Warandeloop) will compete for the Netherlands.
