The survival of the football club FC Volendam is in danger and that is why chairman Jan Smit and the entire board of directors must go. This was announced by the supervisory board of the Volendam club in response to the singer’s message earlier this week in which he announced that he had to leave.
According to the supervisory board, Volendam currently has negative equity capital of 3 million euros. There is a risk of a deficit of 2.3 million euros this season.
Repeated requests
“Despite repeated requests to submit restructuring plans, the board of directors has not been able to convince us that these problems will be resolved,” said Jaap Veerman, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “There are now so many different views within the administration that the functioning of the entire administration as a team leaves something to be desired.”
Smit announced via X (formerly Twitter) that there are no alarming financial situations in Volendam. It even underlines a positive overall result of over 3 million. “I will not allow myself to be called a liar.”
Finance Minister Corn Veerman also contradicts the board’s figures. According to him, the club will finish this season positively, not with a defeat, but with an amount between 2.5 and 3.5 million euros.
According to Veerman, the supervisory board declared a loss of 2.3 million euros because these figures do not include the transfer revenues of former players Micky van de Ven (Spurs), Carel Eiting (Twente) and Derry John Murkin (Schalke 04). .
According to Veerman, this total amounts to 5.7 million and this number could increase even more if, for example, Twente qualifies for the Conference League.
Smith had previously feared there would be further layoffs. “Soon we will have to wait for the release of the men who made our dreams come true with their advice and actions: Wim Jonk, coach Jasper van Leeuwen and training director Ruben Jongkind.”
Smit and his four co-managers have been invited to an extraordinary meeting on Thursday to present their views.
