A perfect evening for Willem II who won the best match against Emmen and saw Roda lose

Leaders Willem II had an excellent Friday evening in the premier league. The Tilburg team won their first match 3-0 against third-place FC Emmen, while number two Roda JC defeated FC Dordrecht (0-2).

Willem II thus increased his lead over his two closest rivals from three to six.

Emmen got its third consecutive win last Monday and managed to move level with Willem II with the win in Tilburg. The closest the visitors came to scoring was when Piotr Parzyszek’s shot hit the crossbar in the first half.

While both teams barely avoided each other before the first half, Willem II came out of the locker room much better. This quickly resulted in a goal: Jeredy Hilterman made the score 1-0.

Fifteen minutes later, substitute Jeremy Bokila, returning from injury, sealed the outcome of the game two minutes after replacing Hilterman. A few minutes later, the Congo-born striker made it 3-0 with a header. Bokila can rightly be described as a “super substitute” as he has already scored seven goals as a substitute this season.

Coach Peter Maes’ team will visit ADO next week and could win the title in the second half.

Roda lost with ten men

It wasn’t a successful evening for number two Roda JC, who already has a historic title under his belt. FC Dordrecht’s Limburg fell behind with a goal from Austrian Rene Kriwak after the match lasted more than half an hour.

Things did not go any better for Bas Sibum in the second half, as after more than an hour of play Roda were forced to continue with ten men after Sami Ouaissa was sent off.

With twenty minutes left, Matisse Didden came close to equalizing but his header hit the post. Kriwak increased the score to 2-0 soon after.

ADO doesn’t win either

Number four ADO Den Haag could have moved into second place with a win over Helmond Sport, but Darije Kalezić’s team also lost.

While ADO, ranked number 13, came back to 2-2 with a score of 2-0 with two goals from Henk Veerman, Martijn Kaars determined the score with a penalty 10 minutes before the end of the match: 3-2.

It was the second goal of the night for top scorer Kaars, who went on to score fourteen goals in total.

Third win in a row from Groningen

FC Groningen continued its upward trend in the last two matches and tonight took its third straight win after a seven-game winless streak against VVV-Venlo.

The home team fell behind at the beginning of the match but still managed to get three points in the second half. After Laros Duarte took the free kick, 19-year-old Groningen Jörg Schreuders decided the outcome of the match a few minutes later.
