League leaders Arsenal narrowly beat low-flying Luton Town 4-3

Premier League leaders Arsenal narrowly won 4-3 against low-flying Luton Town. Declan Rice scored the winning goal in the 97th minute of extra time.

Arsenal give Liverpool no chance of taking the lead. The competition’s number two team will face wobbly bottom-placed Sheffield United on Wednesday evening. Sheffield Tuesday decided to become the first Premier League club to bid farewell to manager Paul Heckingbottom this season.

Had Arsenal drawn with Luton Town, Liverpool would have gone ahead on goal difference on Wednesday night.

confusion, confusion

Arsenal midfielder Gabriel Martinelli scored midway through the first half when Luton Town defenders missed him and he shot freely into the box. Five minutes later, Gabriel Osho scored the equalizing goal for the home team.

Shortly before half-time, Arsenal took the lead again with an assist from Gabriel Jesus. The build-up work was done by Bukayo Saka, who provided Ben White with a fine through ball to the Brazilian striker to deliver an excellent cross. Five minutes before the end of the second half, Luton Town equalized with Elijah Adebayo’s goal.

Luton Town, which competed in the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history this season and is currently in 17th place, defeated Ross Barkley 3-2, surprising the London leaders.

Within a few minutes there was a tie on the scoreboard once again. Kai Havertz coolly slotted the ball past Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski from close range.

ultimate attack

Arsenal players increased the pressure on Luton Town in the final stages. Havertz had a great header chance before the end, but the 24-year-old German’s shot went just over the crossbar. A few minutes later, substitute Leandro Trossard’s hard shot went narrowly out of the goal.

It was Declan Rice who rewarded Arsenal’s last attack in the 97th minute. Following Martin Ødegaard’s pass he gave the “Gunners” a hard-fought victory.
