Hewitt spoke as a Witness in FIFA’s disciplinary proceedings against Rubiales for his behavior during the World Cup final between Spain and England, which also included making obscene gestures during the match and kissing him on the lips without consent, Jenny Hermoso, Spanish players.
A FIFA report said: Hewitt, who attended the awards ceremony with Rubiales, assured that Spain’s Tom was “nasty and unnecessarily aggressive” towards FIFA officials, before accusing him of inappropriate behavior towards the England players.
According to Hewitt, Rubiales “caressed” Laura Coombs’ face and apparently forcibly “kissed” Lucy Bronze on the face.
As for when the Spanish players went up to receive the medals, Hewitt He noted that he “held it very tightly.” “I rubbed a few on my back.” He ‘grabbed her arm’ and ‘lifted her off the ground’.
“This was very uncomfortable and embarrassing for me,” Hewitt added.
Rubiales responded to Hewitt’s words by making sure it was something “unbelievable” and accused him of having a “bias” against him, in addition to being sure he was a hypocrite because he also had the players in his team hugged.
“If you apply the same logic, your hugs can also be interpreted as non-consensual physical contact. The hypocrisy is clear,” Rubiales said during the hearing.
As for his attitude towards Coombs, he justified it with this: he tried to comfort her because she got injured in the final, he had to get stitches in his head and was wearing a bandage at the time.
FIFA decided to disqualify Rubiales from playing football for three years due to his behavior during the final of the last World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
