The Colombian women’s team falls outside FIFA’s top 10

Despite the good performance this year in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023the Colombia selection woman lost ground in the rankings of the FIFA and it stays outside 10.

And the national team players not only managed to make history this year, by reaching the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cupbut they are also recognized worldwide for their talent.

Just look at the nominations at the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) awards, which put two tricolor players at the center of global attention: Linda Caicedo and Ana María Guzmán, who were a fundamental part of the historical team performance.

Inclusive, Nelson Abbeythe strategist who masterfully led the Colombian women’s team, was nominated for the Best Women’s World National Coach Award for his outstanding role since taking office in 2017. Abadía has been instrumental in the team’s recent successes, including the gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima and outstanding participation in the 2022 Copa América Femenina.

Despite the good results, the National Team did not progress further in the rankings FIFA and at the last update he even fell: he ended the year in box 23 with 1,746 points.
