Ricardo Celia from Barranquilla knew how to deal with the high temperatures and strong winds to win the professional category of the 44th edition of the Caribbean International Golf Open ‘Farid Char Abdala Cup’, which concluded the Sunday before in the Lagos de Caujaral Club.
‘Pipo’, representing the Country Club of Barranquilla, emerged victorious with a total of 205 strokes in three days (65-67-73).
Manuel Villegas, from the Country Club of Medellín, had a very good final day, using only 69 hits on the course and taking second place with a total of 211 (72 and 70 in the first two days).
Santiago Chamorro (Los Lagartos) and Juan Pablo Luna (San Andrés) finished third on the podium with 212 strokes.
Host Óscar Álvarez, from the Lagos de Caujaral Club, placed fifteenth with 222 hits.
In the first amateur category, Jorge Andrés Lozada, from Country Club Bucaramanga, won the title with 215 strokes. Locals Sebastián Coymat Mora and Jorge Andrés Corchuelo, both from Club Lagos de Caujaral, took second and third place, with 222 and 225 hits respectively.
