The BBC Sports Personality of the Year returns for another year with some familiar faces taking on presenting duties. Among them is Alex Scott, the youngest presenter of the night.

Former professional footballer Scott appeared on our screens in 2017 and has built an impressive TV career after hanging up his boots. He played for Arsenal almost 150 times in his career, as well as representing Birmingham City and Boston Breakers, won 140 caps for England and represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.

As one of the most recognizable faces on television, the 39-year-old is frequently in the news, and her new relationship with another A-list star puts her romantic life back under the microscope. We get a brief glimpse into Scott’s personal life, from a failed date with a soap opera star to falling in love with his teammate.

girlfriend of a pop star

As one of the most recognizable faces in sports broadcasting, Scott’s love life is rarely out of the headlines. And after weeks of speculation, the former Arsenal star appeared to confirm his romance with pop star Jess Glynn in November when the pair were spotted kissing while together in London.

The romantic outing came after the couple attended several events together, including parties and awards ceremonies, and viewers saw them arrive in the same car, despite posing for photos separately afterwards. Scott and Glynn, known for songs like I’ll Be There and Hold My Hand, have been dating for months but are trying to keep their relationship a secret.

Asked about Scott in an interview with the Daily Mail, Glynn replied: “I have never confirmed that he is in a relationship. He always made a conscious effort to keep something for myself. I will never change that. My friends, my family, my relationships, this is Mine.”

And he added: “Love who you love, be yourself and be happy. But it’s a very cruel world and external judgment is never easy. When someone says, “Well, what are you? Straight, bisexual, queer?”, and I say, “Why is this important to you?”

And Scott appeared to react to the singer’s comments when he shared a photo of Glynn and wrote alongside her to his 1.9 million followers: “Oh hi…” with a red heart and heart eyes emoji.

“Madly in love” with a partner

Scott has now been more open about her romantic life, revealing how she fell “madly and deeply in love” with Arsenal teammate Kelly Smith.

Lioness legend shared details of hidden eight-year relationship and subsequent heartbreak in memoir How (not) to be strong. She told the Mirror she considered leaving the relationship out of the book, but felt it would be a “fraud”.

“I wanted to know if I was actually going to write this chapter,” he said. — But it was one of those moments, I’m writing this book and I want to tell everything.

“I thought I would be fooling all of you if I didn’t write this. And for me it’s like the first love story, I fell madly and deeply in love. And yes, there’s angst and stuff, but it’s a big part of my life and I wouldn’t go back or change it. Because that feeling of love, that emotion and what it gives you, should be there.”

In 2016, Smith married DeAnna Dobosh and the couple had two children. Meanwhile, Scott has been the subject of rumors linking her to her dance strictly her partner Neil Jones, while she also had a “disastrous” date Coronation Street Actor Sam Robertson.

“I never seem to have any luck on dates,” he said. Sunshine said. “My only date in years was with Sam. [Robertson], This is beautiful. The next morning the press released our photos because someone in the restaurant took a photo. “Not exactly a great start!”

Huge BBC salary

Scott now earns between £185,000 and £190,000 a year at the BBC, putting her ahead of Claire Balding, Rick Edwards and journalist John Simpson in the list of highest-paid broadcasters.

He began his media career by appearing on programs such as Soccer AM and trained in professional sports writing and broadcasting while at Arsenal. He won ITV’s Bear Grylls’ show Survival Mission before retiring, before working full-time after hanging up his boots in 2017.

She co-presented Match of the Day before covering events including the men’s and women’s World Cups, the Premier League and the Olympic Games. She became the new presenter of Football Focus in 2021, replacing Dan Walker, and is also a frequent guest presenter on The One Show.
