Here are the Swansea City headlines for Tuesday 19th December.

Forest sack former Swans manager Cooper

Former Swansea manager Steve Cooper has been sacked by Nottingham Forest, according to multiple reports.

The Welshman became a hero at Nottingham when he guided Forest from the bottom of the Championship table to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2022. However, the East Midlands club began a difficult season, finishing in 17th place . , a location slightly above the starting zone.

Forest have won just one of their last 13 games, turning in poor performances against Everton and Fulham, only for fans to chant Cooper’s name in solidarity after the final whistle.

However, the owner of the forest, Evangelos Marinakis, decided to use an axe. Reports suggest that Marinakis has already hired former Wolves and Tottenham manager Nuna Espirito Santo to replace Cooper.

Cooper, 44, is adored by many Forest fans as he led the club to the top flight after 23 years at the club, and the news may be difficult for some to accept.

Given the work he has done with Forest and Swansea before this, not to mention winning the World Cup with England Under-17s, the Welshman is likely to be inundated with offers as he considers his next move.

Wright promises Patino

Arsenal great Ian Wright has promised to watch Swansea City’s Charlie Patino live when he leaves Match of the Day.

Pundit Wright will step down from his role as a commentator on the BBC’s flagship football show, more than 20 years after becoming a regular fixture at the corporation.

The former striker made his Match of the Day debut in 1997 as a player before landing a permanent role on the show in 2000. He left the BBC in 2008 but returned in 2015 and appeared alongside presenter Gary Lineker and colleagues like Alan Shearer and Danny Murphy.

Speaking about his plans for next weekend, the 60-year-old told the Wrighty’s House podcast: “When you talk to players, even on Instagram, like Charlie Patiño. I promised Charlie I wanted to go see him. You talk to them. And I want to look at them.

Patiño has scored three goals and provided 17 assists for the Swans since joining on loan from the Gunners.

Nathan Wood reveals frustration with injury

Centre-back Nathan Wood is desperate to return from injury and remain in the starting line-up in the coming weeks and admitted the sending-off was disappointing.

The 21-year-old has been out since September with a back injury, but played 70 minutes for the under-21s in yesterday’s 0-0 draw against QPR. Wood was sorely missed as the likes of Arsenal were linked with a big money move for him in the summer, but he now looks not far away from returning to action.

“It wasn’t an easy time, but these things have to test you and I’ve been working really hard to try and come back and be a better player,” Wood said. “I felt good there, I felt strong, although I know I still have a lot of work to do to be 100 percent, but that will come when I return to playing with the first team.

“You can’t really recreate everything you feel in the league, some of that will happen when I play more games. It was the first real injury in my career since I got into senior football, so it was tough, but you work hard to stay consistent. There are times when you don’t see as much progress as you would like, but if you continue to work hard with the team, those improvements will come.

“I am grateful to the club and the coaching staff for all the work they did for me. It was difficult not to be involved on Saturday, but with many games to go I will do my best to be there again. . I feel prepared, I will do everything I can. “It’s a matter of patience and being prepared to take advantage of the opportunity.”

Pedersen wants to make up for lost time

Summer signing Christian Pedersen also played against QPR yesterday as he stepped up his return to action protocols.

The left-back has played just four times in the league since arriving from FC Köln in the summer and has not played since October 24. But now he is looking ahead to the next few weeks and wants to help the team and the new manager, when he is appointed, to propel the Swans forward in the coming months.

“I feel good, it was good to be back,” said Pedersen of his performance against QPR. “It took me a few minutes to get up, the last few weeks have been difficult.

“It’s not easy when you arrive at a new club and you’re injured because you want to show what you’re capable of. I hope I can have a good run and have the opportunity to play some games and help the team. I will do my best to stay in shape and if the coach needs me, I will be ready. “We still have a lot of games to play.”
