Handball player Inger Smits is moving to CSM Bucuresti. The development player signed a two-season contract with the Romanian giants.
29-year-old Smits, who recently finished fifth in the World Cup with the Dutch team, comes from Bundesliga club Bietigheim. Smits became national champion in the last two years with this club and won the Europa League, Europe’s second club tournament, last year.
Smits will compete at the highest level with Bietigheim in the Champions League this season. Smits met his future club at the start of this season, with the away game in Bucharest scheduled for February.
“I can’t wait to play in the great atmosphere of Bucharest. See you next season!” said Smits via his new club’s social media.
Bucharest will be their eighth club. He played for three clubs in the Netherlands, three German clubs and the Danish TTH Holstebro.
