Finn Russell was ridiculed for his cash contract without even realizing it.

Bath Rugby faced Harlequins in the Gallagher Premiership on Saturday, with Russell’s side winning 25-17. Russell beat his counterpart Marcus Smith in the highly anticipated fight. At one point they almost boiled over, which you can read about here.

During the TNT Sports broadcast, cameras panned to the bench with just five minutes left in the game. Russell had just been sent off after another brilliant performance and all eyes were on him.

Fly-half lock Elliott Stoke was also out and took the opportunity to comically target Russell. Every time the Scotsman looked away, Stock rubbed his thumb and thumb and pointed at him. The Englishman simply rubbed his beard innocently whenever Russell looked at him, and the Scottish star was completely taken by surprise.

Makes viewing fun.

Stoke would be right to suggest that Russell is well rewarded. The British and Irish Lion has a £1m-a-year contract with Bath, who secured his talent in the Racing 92 top 14 earlier this year. With his seven-figure salary, he is the highest-paid player in world rugby.

The 31-year-old has been more than successful since arriving at The Rec, leading Bath to the top of the Premier League table at Christmas.

Wales legend Dan Biggar isn’t far behind, earning just under £800,000 a year with Toulon.
