Fuad Char, 10-time champion

Amid the joy, the hugs and the cries of happiness for the new star he won in December, and almost without realizing it, Fuad Char has added his tenth star, his tenth championship title, with Junior de Barranquilla.

He is the great team owner, the legendary patriarch of Colombian football, who has won the most titles since he joined Junior in 1972 with a contribution of fifty thousand pesos at the time.

Since then, and fifty-one years later, Fuad Char has won ten championships, two cups and two Super Leagues and an investment multiplied by millions of pesos and dollars, becoming the great winner of team owners in the history of Colombia.

In the 1970s, Fuad Char’s colleagues delegated to him the absolute responsibility of the team left to him at a time when Supertiendas y Droguerías Olímpica was by then on its way to becoming the great Colombian chain of shops, markets and pharmacies . that despite the times when large corporations have been left in the hands of multinational economic groups, this has been the exclusive property of Fuad and his brothers, who competed with tenacity and determination against foreign investors who have stayed with their rival companies.

I bring up this story not just to remember it, or to show it to the new junior generations, but to point out the almost overflowing enthusiasm of Fuad Char in putting together Junior 2024, the centenary team. 100 years, more than half of which he wrote with real success.

It is impossible to count time in days, hours or minutes, just as it is impossible to estimate the investments made by Fuad and his family to make Junior the great institution that it is.
