Short track star Suzanne Schulting will not be able to participate in the European Championships to be held in Gdansk, Poland (January 12-14). Schulting was not included in KNSB’s selection for this tournament.
Schulting’s main goal was to return to the European Championships in Gdansk. The three-time Olympian took time off last summer and suffered a cut on his back in November when he fell during training.
After consulting with the short track team’s technical and medical staff, he decided to add an additional training period to his schedule instead of the European Championships.
Neither does Knegt.
Schulting is currently focusing on the World Cup competitions in February and the Short Track World Championships in Rotterdam (mid-March). Xandra Velzeboer, Selma Poutsma, Michelle Velzeboer, Yara van Kerkhof and Diede van Oorschot will participate in the European Championships next month.
The men’s European Championship qualifiers consist of Jens van ‘t Wout, Teun Boer, Itzhak de Laat, Friso Emons and Kay Huisman. Sjinkie Knegt is not in the election.
