Gervin Price says he is “absolutely devastated” after suffering a shock third-round defeat to Brendan Dolan at Alexandra Palace last night.

In a repeat of the World Cup clash from three years ago, Dolan defeated Welshman Price and reached the round of 16 of the competition.

In a thrilling match in which Price made it 2-2, Northern Ireland’s Dolan kept his cool to book his place in the next round.

“I’m excited now. “I’m very happy,” Dolan said after the win. “I thought maybe we were heading into the home stretch. Thank God we didn’t do that because I don’t know if I would have done it together.

“I put myself in a good position, so Jazzy was coming back. I tried telling myself positive things like ‘What if he wins? You stay on sets, you can still do it, you’re still in the game.

“I won a few sets early on and, to be honest, Gezzi should have won.”

After the game, Price took to social media to share his feelings, overcome with disappointment.

“Absolutely devastated by the opportunities I gave myself tonight, giving my best and overcoming myself, I just want to say how much I appreciate the fans who supported me, I just couldn’t keep up and Brendan took every opportunity I had. , well I did it and I hope to learn from it #gutted,” he said.

“But thanks again.”

He then added: “And to add more salt, I am the only player who has lost and won more games. Always find me positive”, accompanied the laughing emoji.
