Here’s your round-up of the latest news from Swansea City for Thursday 28th December.

Sheehan will watch the game in Coventry

Interim Swansea City manager Alan Sheehan will take charge of Friday’s clash against Coventry City as the club’s search for a manager continues.

Sheehan took over on an interim basis after Michael Duff was sacked earlier this month and has overseen the last five games, the last of which was a 5-0 defeat to Southampton on Boxing Day. The balance thus stands at two wins, two defeats and a a tie.

It remains to be seen whether he will be seen as a serious candidate for the full-time role, with a number of other names on Swansea’s radar in recent weeks, including Notts County boss Luke Williams and Elfsborg’s Jimmy Thelin.

However, at the time of writing, the appointment is not yet considered imminent and Sheehan will take up the role again.

Sorinola leaves the Union

Former Swansea City striker Matthew Sorinola has left Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise after terminating his contract by mutual agreement.

Sorinola spent last season on loan at the Swans, where he played 31 games in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

However, he has not played for his home club all season and has now moved on with just six months remaining on his current contract.

In a statement, the Union said: “English winger Matthew Sorinola (22) and Union Saint-Gilloise have terminated his contract by mutual agreement. We wish Matthew all the best for the future.

“Sorinola left MK Dons in the summer of 2021. In his first season at Union, he played a further 16 games and scored one goal. He spent the 2022-2023 season on loan at Swansea City (31 games).

“The club and the player decided to separate by mutual agreement. Good luck, Matthew!”

Allen: We have to fix everything.

Joe Allen says Swansea City need to do well against Coventry City as they look to bounce back from their Boxing Day defeat at Southampton.

“We don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves, the games come rushing in this Christmas period and that continues into the new year too,” he said.

“We won’t be there again on Friday and in this short period we have to fix everything.

“We know we weren’t good enough against Southampton and we have a lot to work on.

“We want to make sure we put on a good game for the fans who, as always, have been very vocal and supportive at St Mary’s.

“Coventry are a good team who have been in good form lately, so now we will focus on Friday.”
