Here’s a round-up of the latest news from Swansea City for Saturday 30th December.

Sheehan praises Parker’s debut

Swansea City interim manager Alan Sheehan praised youngster Sam Parker’s impact after the teenager made his professional debut in Friday’s 2-2 draw against Coventry City.

After a nervous start, Parker rose to the challenge at the CBS Arena and leveled Yannick Bolasie with a great chance just after the break.

And Sheehan was clearly impressed by what he saw.

“He’s 17,” he said. “I liked it since I arrived at the club. I saw it in the gym and I think if you’re good enough, you’re old enough for me. “He has a profile that I don’t have.” “I don’t think without Josh Key. But I think he has a lot of potential. His character is great for such a young guy and I thought fate favors the brave, so let’s go.”

“We want players to be trained in the academy and rewarded.”

Sheehan reports on Key’s injury

Alan Sheehan says Josh Key could be out for a month.

The full-back missed the 5-0 defeat to Southampton and the draw against Coventry City on Friday and the outlook does not look promising.

“It’s bad,” Sheehan said. “It’s a muscle injury. Some time will be lost.

“I don’t know. It’s going to take a while. How long? I think between four and eight weeks.”

Martín is interested in Sorinola’s reunion

Southampton manager Russell Martin is reportedly interested in reuniting with Swan’s former teammate Matthew Sorinola.

According to TEAMtalk, Saints are among the group of clubs interested in the winger, recently released by Union Saint-Gilloise.

Preston, Middlesbrough and Stoke are also believed to be following the developments.

It is clear that there are no plans to return to Swansea at this time.

Pirro says he has resigned from the Premier League

Joel Piro has revealed he turned down a move to the Premier League to join Leeds United in the summer.

The 24-year-old claims he was given the choice between Leeds or an unnamed lower league team but chose to move to Elland Road, suggesting the “sporting project” was more attractive.

“There were several options,” he said. ESPN.

“It was a choice between a lesser Premier League team or the best team in the Championship. I thought and considered, but in the end I really wanted to go to Leeds United. I never played for promotion at Swansea.

“In a top team like Leeds, as a striker you would expect to get a lot more opportunities per game than you would in a lower tier Premier League team.

“Furthermore, the chances of playing for Leeds were also greater than in the Premier League. Throughout my career, I realized how important this is. “The choice of Leeds was very conscious in sporting terms.”
