The Mexican government intends build a racetrack in Acapulco for racing NASCAR As part of plans to rebuild the iconic Pacific destination after Hurricane Otis, the tourism minister said Wednesday, Miguel Torruco, morning of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The tourism minister said a slide with a photo of the track and the name “NASCAR Raceway” can be seen in the background.
An investor is already in place to develop a racecourse on the 60-hectare site for horse racing as well as other international activities.
Without going into detail, the official added that Acapulco will also host international boxing bouts and will continue to host the Mexican Open.
Since 2004, Mexico has codified NASCAR PIC Series, one of the international automotive categories of the most commercial and popular competition in the United States. No U.S. NASCAR official immediately responded to requests for comment. Reuters.

Otis, the most powerful hurricane to hit the Mexican Pacific coast since records began, struck Acapulco early on October 25, killing fifty people and causing millions in damage.
At the same press conference, the Minister of Internal Affairs Louise Alcaldereported that the government has so far invested about P26 billion in redevelopment of the area. When the disaster occurred, the consulting firm Enki Research Damages from Otis are estimated at approximately $15 billion.
