“I would like to share this award with Luciano, for his great season at Napoli after so many years, and with Simone, for how difficult he made it for us in the final with that great team. And I would also like to share it with the city owners, especially with Ferran Soriano, for creating this idea, and with Txiki Begiristan, for trusting me,” were Guardiola’s words as he accepted the award on stage.

Without a doubt, Guardiola was the deserved winner of this award after winning the treble (Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League) with Manchester City last season, the second of his career after the one in 2009 with Barcelona.

It is the second time that Guardiola has been recognized as FIFA coach of the year and the first since the creation of ‘The Best’ in 2016. His first conquest came in 2011 with Barcelona.

And in women’s football, the coach of the year was Sarina Wiegman, the English coach.
