No more rumors. The speculations are over. It is now official that Alianza Petrolera, which will now be called Alianza Futbol Club, will play at the Armando Maestre Pavajeau Stadium in Valledupar. Last Tuesday, the official presentation of the new football team took place in the capital Cesar, which belonged to Barrancabermeja, Santander.
The agreement, which includes an investment for the administrative and sporting operation of the team, has a term of four years between the club’s directors, the Cesar government and the mayor’s office of Valledupar.
Carlos Orlando Ferreira, president of Alianza FC, reported that next Thursday some representatives of the South American football confederation Conmebol will come to visit the stadium and make the necessary recommendations so that it can organize the Copa Sudamericana match against América de Cali.
“This is an opportunity for the entire city. I call on the press to give us a voice of encouragement in defeat, and not just join us in victories. May the love for the team multiply among all the lagenatos,” said Ferreira at the press conference to present the nu lagenato squad.
During the event it was also announced that the shield will undergo a total change. It will be made with the colors of the Valledupar flag, a football and an image of the emblematic Guatapurí River.
Alianza FC arrives in the city of Santos Reyes, months after the departure of Valledupar FC, a B team that tried unsuccessfully for years to gain promotion to the first division. His record was sold to Real Soacha, from Cundinamarca.
The first negotiations to create a team were conducted by Congressman Alfredo Ape Cuello, who stated to the media: “This belongs to the city, it belongs to Valledupar, today we fulfill this historic responsibility with the city. Now it is up to the Vallenatos to make this team the best in Colombia.”
The Governor of Cesar, Elvia Milena Sanjuán, after welcoming all the players and technical staff, said that the arrival of a professional football club will be an impetus and an alternative for all the residents of Cesar and the residents of the neighboring departments.
“We have an infrastructure like that of the stadium, which is first-class and luxurious in all its areas. This creates great expectations, especially for children, adolescents and young people, who will have the opportunity to access training resources in sports,” said Sanjuán Dávila.
The mayor of Valledupar, Ernesto Orozco, assured that this is an important development for a country that breathes sports.
“We are committed to making Valledupar a sports and cultural city where events are always taking place, so that our children can play sports. Another commitment is to promote completely free gyms for children and young people from Vallenatos,” said Orozco, who also sees the rise of Alianza FC with economic potential for many Vallenatos.
“What it will mean for the economy in Valledupar… some critics will object, but we are doing our best to return to the city, but also to the Vallenato Festival and the concerts. Every fifteen days, when the teams we dream of seeing arrive, the economy will move. They are not leaving here, we are going to support them to become champions,” said the local leader.
The ticket office for the matches costs 20 thousand pesos. They can be purchased via a digital platform and at the various physical points of sale that will be announced in the coming days.
