“Thank you to those who applauded me, to those who didn’t, may God bless you”: Hinestroza

You can tell he just left and he still loves it. Fredy Hinestroza, although he did not say so, must have felt strange in the Metropolitan stadium wearing a different shirt than that of Junior, the team he has stayed with for the past five years.

That is why he greeted and hugged the members of the red and white club before and after the match that the ‘Sharks’ won 2-0 against his new team, Atlético Bucaramanga.

“The truth is, as they say, sometimes there are special games. Happy to get on the ‘Metro’ again. I am happy to be able to play football again and am grateful to God,” he said when approached by the media in the mixed zone.

Minutes before the opening whistle, just after the formal events, Hinestroza drew applause from fans in the west stands as he approached to shake hands and hug his former teammates.

The Antioquian, who won four titles with Junior, two in the League (2019 I and 2023 II) and two in the Super League (2019 and 2020), expressed his gratitude by looking into the stands, applauding and greeting. Later, during the match, some of the fans whistled at him when he received the ball, something he did not take to heart.

“For me, the feeling of playing football will always be the same, I love this sport wherever I play. There will always be people who recognize you in your work and people who don’t, but it’s all part of the sport, so there’s no need to blame anything. First say thank you to the people who applauded me, and to those who didn’t, may God bless you too,” he expressed without rancor or resentment.

Now, in strict football terms, he thinks Junior’s strength was ultimately self-imposed.

“I think the first half was even. We had chances to score, but in football the one who enjoys it is the one who puts it in the area. Today we didn’t put it in, they put it in. The second half was more open for them, we already had quite a high level of wear and tear and they knew how to take advantage of it,” Hinestroza summarized.
