Chairman of Titanes explains reasons for recess: “We don’t sell a thousand tickets”

Bad news. Titanes de Barranquilla, the team born to win, the one that made lifting trophies a routine, the example of passion, organization and winning mentality, is taking a break. Alberto Caparroso, president and shareholder of the team, confirmed yesterday to EL HERALDO that the nine-time champion is rejecting its participation in the second-semester tournament, mainly for economic reasons.

Caparroso and the team’s other shareholders, Camilo Viana, Fabio Pérez, Marco Rueda and Yuseff Henríquez, each with a 20% stake, prefer to step aside for six months while they look for alternatives that will help promote the cause.

The mammoth task of supporting the team needs more financial support, and “the professional basketball division needs to be better organised”, said ‘Capa’, who told EL HERALDO all the details of the decision over the recess.
