Real Betis for King’s Cup final at the expense of Rayo Vallecano

Real Betis reached the final of the Copa del Rey by beating Rayo Vallecano. After last month’s 2-1 win, a 1-1 draw at home was enough for Betis.

Valencia will be in the final next month and qualify on Wednesday at the expense of Athletic Club.

For a long time there was talk of a dragon of one match and the position of the cups on the scoreboard was a logical score. Rayo scored for the first time ten minutes before the end. But it was hit immediately: the Reserve Baby, right on the ground, sees his beautiful free kick slip into the goal.

Extra time seemed very close as the away goals rule no longer counted in the Spanish Cup tournament. In added time, however, it was still a party for the home side: Joaquín, 40, took a chance with a smart pass, before the ball was finally hit on the line by Borja Iglesias. With a bit of luck.

No first Rayo Cup final

Betis has reached the cup finals four times and won the King’s Cup twice. The last time this happened was in 2005 when Joaquín was there. The club legend even won 2-1 on foot in the final stage, but only shot wide for the keeper.

Rayo celebrates his 98th birthday this year and never made it to the cup final.
