The Netherlands will again be represented with a team at the prestigious Ocean Race next year. It is the thirteenth time in fourteen editions that a Dutch boat participates in the prestigious worldwide sailing competition.
Named to the Dutch Sailing Team NextGen, it is supported by Carolijn Brouwer, who made history as the first woman to win the race in the last edition in 2018.
Brouwer: “Unfortunately I have never sailed for a Dutch team. “I hope to change that with this campaign.” “It’s not much for me, but I want to pass on my knowledge and experience to the current generation of young seafarers.”
The fourteenth of the Ocean Race starts on January 15, 2023 in Alicante. The finish is in Genoa, Italy, after 60,000 kilometers. On the way, Cape Verde, Cape Town, Itajaí, Nieuwpoort, Aarhus and The Hague are visited.
The Dutch team is already preparing for the Ocean Race. Sailing Team NextGen is currently in Jeddah for an event and will leave for The Hague in mid-June for a training block.
It is not yet known which of the ten sailors will be on the Dutch boat.
