Ethan Hayter’s hunt for the second leg of the 169km Tour de Romandie around the start and destination of Echallens. The English rider of Ineos, who was the fastest on Tuesday but last on Wednesday’s results page, won the sprint in front of a group of about eighty people who had digested the rough course well.
The leader’s jersey remained in the hands of Jumbo-Visma driver Rohan Dennis, who finished second on Tuesday (time trial) and Wednesday and is now in the peloton.
Baptiste Planckaert, Diego Lopez, Tom Skujins and Nils Brun set the race of the day two kilometers later, but this did not lead to the expected result. About twenty kilometers from the finish, the last two had to surrender to the peloton.
Lake Uran
Rigoberto Uran has been missing from the start. The Colombian leader of EF-EasyPost fell in first place, hurting his shoulder and not walking on his bike.
A large group eventually roared towards the finish. In the sprint, Hayter was well ahead of Spaniard Jon Aberasturi and Colombian Fernando Gaviria. Steven Kruijswijk was the tenth best Dutchman.
