Turkish Trabzonspor wins first competition in 38 years in blood-curdling match

The Trabzonspor was declared the winner of the Turkish Super League draw two goals at home against Antalya and add a point making it mathematically impossible for Fenerbahce, their closest rival, to beat them in the three remaining matches.

The league title won on Saturday is the first since the season for the club from Trabzon, a Turkish coastal town on the Black Sea. 1983-1984

The local team had to suffer for the titlein a tense match in which the players occasionally brawled and the crowd stormed onto the field before the final whistle, mistakenly thinking that the match was already over.

The game was a rollercoaster ride, with Trabzonspor finishing the first half 1-0, a lead that turned into a draw as soon as the second half started.

The hosts took the lead again in the 62nd minute, but Antalya made it 2-2 with just 10 minutes to go, prolonging the eventual lightweight champion’s pain.
