“If Real Madrid go to the final, it’s to win them”: Courtois

Thibaut Courtois summed up what he experienced at the Santiago Bernabeu on another magical European evening with a comeback, in the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City, with “one word: Real Madrid”, and assured that when the white team final reached “It is to win them.”

“One word: Real Madrid. This club is capable of anything. We keep believing until the end. With the 1-1 we knew there were still six minutes to go and that anything was possible. With the second they were dead and we knew we were better in extra time,” he assured Movistar.

“It looked like it wasn’t going to happen because we weren’t good for goal. Sometimes you feel like it won’t work out, but that goal and that moment, with the fans… they already knew at 1-1 that anything could happen,” he described.

Courtois praised the Champions League that Real Madrid signed after knocking out PSG, Chelsea and City to reach the final in Paris.

“We’ve knocked out really big teams who have spent a lot of money to win a Champions League. First PSG, then Chelsea and today… we had some incredible last minutes.”

“When you reach a final, everyone has a huge desire to win more. If Real Madrid go to the finals, it’s to win them,” he said.
