Chelsea respond to sanctions with victory in English league

A last-minute goal from Germany’s Kai Havertz unblocked Chelsea against Newcastle (1-0) and extended the London side’s good line, who established themselves in third place in the Premier League, surpassed only by Manchester City and Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel’s team found no way to break the order of the ‘magpies’, a team that has clearly been evolving since the arrival of the new owners and without the relegation pressure it was involved in in the early part of the course.

He arrived at Stamford Bridge with three consecutive wins behind Eddie Howe’s team, who had arguments to complicate the situation for his rival. Later, the European champion’s intimidation was accentuated, he cornered the visitors and eventually won a prize.

But it wasn’t until the 90th minute that Chelsea resolved the situation. A nice pass from Jorginho was picked up within the penalty area by Havertz, who defeated Martin Dubravka.

The win extends Chelsea’s good line, third in the table, although seven points behind Liverpool, second and ten behind leader Manchester City.
