PSV says goodbye to coach Schmidt after victory over PEC Zwolle

PSV honored manager Roger Schmidt’s farewell with a win. The Eindhoven team won the away game 2-1 against the relegated PEC Zwolle. PSV finished second in the Eredivisie and should qualify for the Champions League in the preliminary rounds. This will be led by Ruud van Nistelrooij.

Furthermore, there was nothing at stake in Zwolle and both teams were free to attack. Gervane Kastaneer has already met PSV goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo in the first phase. The first goal came from the opposing team in the 11th minute. Bruma luckily picked up the ball after a shot by Cody Gakpo was blocked. PEC Portuguese goalkeeper Kostas Lamprou gave a close range pass. It was his seventh league goal.

Four minutes later, everything was back to normal. Kastaneer hit hard from the top right corner. Minutes later, his second goal went into the offside line. Bruma also saw that a goal was disallowed for the same reason.

Shortly after the break, Gakpo hit the post. Schmidt sent new workers into the field, including rookie Dennis Vos. The Eindhoven team took the lead in the 73rd minute with Richard Ledezma. This was the Americans’ first goal for the main force. Jenson Seet also made his first minutes in the Eredivisie free for PSV.
