Jeffrey Hoogland finished second in the sprint at the Nations Cup in Milton, Canada. Knocked out early by Keirin, the world and Olympic champion had to bow to Australian Matthew Richardson, who defeated him twice in the final.
Richardson had already defeated Sam Ligtlee in the quarterfinals of the sprint tournament in Milton, without Olympic and world champion Harrie Lavreysen.
Jan-Willem van Schip won the bronze medal in the omnium event. After a good (second) start from zero, Van Schip, who had won the double gold earlier this weekend with Yoeri Havik, scored points in the remaining three games for the still unstoppable Ethan Hayter.
The 23-year-old Briton started with a win and added two more wins. The reigning world champion finished with 163 points, more than enough for the overall victory. Silver went to American Gavin Hoover with 128 points.
Among the ladies, Steffie van der Peet took part in the battle for the last keir, but was unable to reach the finish due to a fall. The victory went to Canadian Kelsey Mitchell.
