Curaçao Tourist Board CTB has been sponsoring Ajax since 2020 and the shirts of the club have the Curaçao logo on the sleeves. The team will be on the Caribbean island from May 17 to 21 without trainer Erik ten Hag and will, among other things, train on May 20 and compete against selected Curaçao football players.
The special team is led by Dean Gorré, former national coach of Suriname, and will consist of players from Curaçao active on the island itself and Curaçao active in other countries such as Gervane Kastaneer (PEC Zwolle). He also spoke at the press conference and said that the island could introduce itself with the arrival of Ajax.
Van der Sar said at the press conference that he was “proud” of the collaboration with Curaçao. Van der Sar: “After a difficult season, I am happy to be able to share the championship with the Curaçaoans. Ajax took the championship trophy to the island.
Jurriën Timber loved being on the island where “my parents came from”. Normally he goes on vacation to the island. “We are now at Ajax for the people and children of the island.”
The arrival of Ajax is big news for the island. There is also a lot of interest in clinics with football players. In total 400 young players can participate and more than 1300 have signed up. The game at SDK Stadium is almost sold out on Tuesday. A large number of people are expected to attend the training on Thursday and safety measures will be taken.
