Two Dutch golfers won at the end of the second day of the Dutch Open with Joost Luiten and Lars van Meijel. The tournament is over for Wil Besseling and Darius van Driel.
Luiten dropped to joint nineteenth on the courses of Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt after a round three strokes above the track average. It was ten more than the first day he took the lead in a round of 65 shots.
“It was not as clean as Thursday,” said Luiten earlier in the day. Just a little less bird and a little more bogeyman. “It shows that golf is a strange game,” he said. Ziggo SportsI
The 36-year-old South Dutchman is six shots behind Portuguese Ricardo Gouveia, who was ten shots below average after a 66-pound round. Li Haotong, a 26-year-old Chinese man who needed 63 shots on Friday, was one shot behind.
After a round of 71 moves on Thursday, Van Meijel has now completed the round in 70 moves. He had three birds and a bogey and drew 28th at -3.
Ricardo Gouveia leads the Dutch Open.
Besseling and Van Driel finished with 146 shots
After a poor start on the last holes, Besseling risked a cut, but failed. He hit a total of 146 after the bogeyman on holes 17 and 18. Drawn in 88th place.
The same goes for Van Driel. The Netherlands’ best golfer, who finished fourth in Cromvoirt last year, also finished two strokes above the course average.
Dario Antonisse had little chance of qualifying for the weekend with a round of 73 shots and a total of 144 shots. But the 23-year-old golfer ended up on the wrong side of the roster.
For the winner of the Dutch Open, a check for about 300,000 euros is ready.
