Luis Díaz, a footballer from Liverpool, was about to become the first Colombian to start and win a Champions League final.
That of Barrancas, a starter in Jürgen Klopp’s team, became the eighth Colombian this Saturday to play the game for the title in the Champions League from the starting eleven.
Edwin Congo, with Real Madrid in 2000, Iván Córdoba, with Inter Milan in 2010, James Rodríguez, with Real Madrid in 2016 and 2017, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, with Juventus de Turín in 2017, and Davinson Sánchez, in 2019 with Tottenham Hotspur, they were the other Colombians to be in a Champions League final, although only Cuadrado played a minute.
Díaz also misses the chance to be the third Colombian to win this title, after Córdoba and James.
