Footballer Van den Berg extends contract with PSV

Football star Mandy van den Berg will also play for PSV next season. The captain extended his contract in Eindhoven by one year. Van den Berg defender returned to the Dutch league in 2020 after years of playing in Sweden, Norway, England and Spain.

Last year, 31-year-old Westland won the KNVB Cup with PSV, the Eindhoven women’s top trophy. PSV finished third in the Women’s Eredivisie this season behind FC Twente and Ajax.

“I want to be important to the team and I feel at home and appreciated here,” says Van den Berg. “The ‘fire’ is still burning to get there with full dedication.”

Van den Berg was the captain of the national team for many years. However, he lost the starting point won by ‘Leeuwinnen’ at the European Championship 2017 in his home country. The 90-time international was later unavailable for the Orange for a while. He reversed this decision but was not recalled.

PSV is already strong for next season with Orange’s internationals Kika van Es, Inessa Kaagman and Siri Worm.
