Medvedev in three sets against Cilic at Roland Garros

The evening of the court Philippe-Chatrier lasted only one hour and 45 minutes. Cilic played with conviction, dominated the swings with his aggressive tennis and allowed no breakpoints. The number 23 in the world has registered less than 33 winners.

The winner later said: “It was a great game from the first to the last moment. “It was arguably one of the best games of my career,” he said.

The 2014 US Open champion, 33-year-old Cilic, will face Medvedev’s compatriot Andrej Roeblev in the quarterfinals, who saw Italian Jannik Sinner out in the third set with a knee injury.

Last year, Medvedev won a match at the Grand Slam tournament in Paris for the first time in his career. He eventually lost in the quarterfinals. He had minor back surgery as Roland Garros approached.

Medvedev can now prepare for the grass field tournament in Rosmalen, which starts in a week.
