JASON CUMMINGGS has responded to allegations that he is not a good fit for the Dundee manager, which ultimately led to his departure from the club.
The striker left Dens Park for the Central Coast Mariners in the transfer window in January after a relapse with then-manager James McPake.
He was fired in December for attending the Open Goal live event without permission from Dark Blues.
Cummings appeared on stage as the Joker.
But the former Hibs and Rangers striker finally broke his silence on the situation, insisting that McPake didn’t like him at all and was using the incident as an excuse to kick him out.
He told the Sydney Morning Herald: “I will raise my hand, I have not asked the club for permission to do so.
“I went ahead, looked like the little Joker and went straight home after the show. It was a great laugh.
“But to say that I am unable to train is completely wrong.
“It was frustrating because I didn’t get a chance to speak and my side of the story was completely different.
“The manager didn’t really own me. For some reason he didn’t want to play with me.
“I was on time for training, but they sent me home.
“They said I was unable to train… even the players will support me.
They did something big like “Cummings is not in shape, this is Cummings”. I feel it’s easier for them to get rid of me.
“It’s easy to tell me if the team starts playing badly or if I start playing badly. The first thing they’ll say is, “Oh, Cummings is a prankster, he’s not working hard enough” – which he isn’t. I’m just a scapegoat.
“If I had been out all the time or fucked up almost every day, I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am. When it’s serious, when it’s match day and practice day, I take it seriously.
“I feel that I will adapt to Australia and score a lot of goals.”
