Junior options and rankings

Junior had to beat Millonarios in Bogotá so that his placement to the final would not depend on anyone. Really, if the total balance is made, they should have beaten Bucaramanga as a visitor on the second day of the quadrangular A semifinal. There, in the 2-0 defeat to the leopard team, the rojiblancos are trailing in the standings.

Atlético Nacional did what ‘el Tiburón’ could not in the City of Parks, beating the Bumangues club 1-0, and today they are the group leader and the only one who relies on themselves to reach the final.

To complete that goal, however, the Greens will have to face Millonarios, at El Campín, and Junior, at Atanasio. In other words, nothing is said. Even Bucaramanga has a mathematical chance of reaching the final with just three points.

And what about the rojiblancos?… Not easy at all. They need to win their last two games, against Bucaramanga at the Metropolitano Stadium next Saturday (5pm) and against Nacional on Wednesday, June 15 in Atanasio (at a time to be determined). Apart from that task, which is in his hands, he has to cross his fingers so that Millonarios and Nacional sign on the penultimate day in Bogotá.

Failing that, I should hope the blues beat the greens and Bucaramanga doesn’t lose on the last date in Bogotá.

If Nacional wins in the capital, they automatically qualify for the final. Junior, Millonarios and Bucaramanga are eliminated for lack of a date.

While Junior has the same points as Millonarios, he is at a disadvantage with the invisible point earned by the ‘Ambassadors’ by being at the top of the leaderboard in the first 20 dates of the League. A better position in the regular phase is the first tiebreak entry, therefore the ‘Sharks’ will be below the blues and Nacional if they are equal in points.

Those led by Juan Cruz Real surpass Bucaramanga only in that item implemented in this tournament in favor of those who make the best campaign in the ‘all against all’ stage. Therefore, it was not the same to classify the eighth or sixth as first, second or third.
