First senior matches in the Eredivisie on September 18

The First Classic will meet on Sunday 22 January 2023 in De Kuip, mid-March in Ajax and Feyenoord Amsterdam. “It is a huge headache for all clubs, interested parties and interests, but we think it is a good time frame,” says match manager Jan Bluyssen of the KNVB. The football association had announced the schedule for the first round the day before.

On Friday 5 August, sc Heerenveen – Sparta Rotterdam will be the opening match of the match. A week ago, on Saturday 30 July, national champion Ajax and cup winner PSV competed for the Johan Cruijff ladder. Three days later, PSV enter the third preliminary round of the Champions League. In the competition, Ajax and PSV will face each other in Amsterdam at the beginning of November and in the 30th round in Eindhoven at the end of April.

Just like last season, most of the top performers are on the program on a Sunday after a European tour. “Unfortunately, we cannot escape it,” says Bluyssen. “It’s about the limited space it has to create a level playing field,” he said.

The Eredivisie will be closed in mid-November because of the World Cup in Qatar, and then it will start again on January 6. During the World Cup period, three rounds are played in the Culinary Champions League.

Clubs playing in the group stage of a European tournament can move league matches between the last two group stages to weekday evenings in early November. The KNVB continues to use Saturday 4.30 pm and Sunday 8 pm as competition hours, despite the necessary criticism, especially from fans.

The association plans to start the penultimate round matches gradually, rather than simultaneously. All nine Eredivisie matches start simultaneously (14:30) in the 34th and final round, which will be played on Sunday 28 May. On the final day, AZ – PSV, Feyenoord – Vitesse and FC Twente – Ajax are on the program.
