the Colombian Nairo Quintana (Arkea Samsic) lost the options in the Occitanie route due to a fall in the latter part of the second leg which resulted in him losing more than 4 minutes.
Quintana, who returned to Occitania after another accident suffered in the back to turkey, was involved in the fall about 6 km from the finish. The boyacence cyclist, with some bumps, got back on the bike and crossed the finish line in 125th, 4.04 minutes behind the winner, the Spanish Roger Adrian.
This accident pushes Quintana away from the overall standings at 4.14 minutes, losing his chances to fight for a win he’s already had twice, 2020 and 2022.
This Friday’s day was contested with a route of 36 kilometers instead of the 154.7 kilometers initially planned, as the authorities of the Tarn department decided to cut it due to the heat wave that is penetrating much of Europe.
