Whitlock and Heta dedicate World Cup of Darts title to Kyle Anderson

Simon Whitlock and Damon Heta dedicate their World Darts Cup win to Kyle Anderson for Australia. His compatriots died a little less than a year ago, at the age of 33.

Whitlock and Heta were very strong for Wales in the final on Sunday evening and eliminated the Netherlands in the semi-final. Australia won the World Darts Cup for the first time.

“Kyle was amazing,” said Whitlock, 53, who has competed in the World Cup many times with Anderson in the past. I thought about him all the time while playing. He was a good boy and a great darts player.” .

Heta, nineteen years his junior, also thought highly of Anderson. “Before our first game against Belgium, I listened to the participation music. inspired me. This win is for Kyle and all of Australia. We received a lot of support from all over the country.”

Whitlock hopes his victory at the World Cup will encourage more people to take up darts in Australia. “I hope we inspire Australia again and accelerate the sport of darts,” said the 2010 World Cup finalist.

The Australians surprised the British favorites (Michael Smith and James Wade) in the semi-final and replaced Scotland for the title. The Netherlands last won the Darts World Cup in 2018. Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld were a team at the time.
