Carlos Tevez, new Rosario Central coach

Former striker Carlos Tevez, who played for the Argentine national team, Boca Juniors, Manchester United and Juventus, among others, makes his debut as a coach at Rosario Central, which announced his arrival as technical director on Tuesday.

“Carlos Tevez is Rosario Central’s DT! ‘El Apache’ became auriazul’s new coach after signing a 12-month contract with the club. Carlos ‘el Chapa’ Retegui will be part of his coaching staff,” the Rosario team reported via social networks.

Retegui is an Olympic multi-medal hockey coach, with both the women’s and men’s teams, with whom he won the gold medal in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Tevez witnessed the defeat of his new team against Velez Sarsfield on Monday with Retegui, 2-0 from the stadium.

This will be the first experience as technical director of ‘Apache’, who retired from playing for Boca Juniors in June 2021 and after a year of uncertainty confirmed his final retirement a few weeks ago and his desire to become a coach.

Rosario Central is the twenty-second of the 28 teams in the Argentine League with four points out of a possible 12 and is in the round of 32 of the Argentine Cup.

Tévez’s first game as coach is at home this Friday against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata on match day five of the local league.
