Duque delivers national flag to representatives of Colombia in Bolivarianos

The president of ColombiaIvan Dukedelivered the national pavilion this Wednesday to the athletes who will present the country in the XIX Bolivarian Games of Valleduparwhich begins on June 24 and ends on July 5.

“Guys, this pandemic has removed us from many international competitions, but I can already smell it, I feel it, Colombia, champion of these Bolivarian Games that we are going to hold this week and that will be inaugurated in the city of Valledupar,” said the president at the National Pavilion Awards Ceremony.

The President and the Minister of Sports, William Herrerahanded the flag to the Olympic medalists Ingrit Valencia Yes Carlos Ramirezwho will be Colombia’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony.

Valencia, 33 years old and born in the department of Cauca, won bronze in the Rio 2016 Olympics, has a rich history in the Olympic cycle: gold in bolivarians (Santa Marta 2017), South Americans (Cochabamba 2018), Central America and the Caribbean (Barranquilla 2018) and pan-american (Lime 2019).

She is accompanied by the cyclist from Antioquia Ramírez, bronze medalist in the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and in Tokyo 2020 and whose career includes two world titles in bmx, in the 2002 and 2012 youth and junior categories.

He also climbed to the top of the podium in the 2018 Cochabamba Suramericanos and gold and in the 2017 Santa Marta Bolivarianos, among other sporting achievements.

According to him Colombian Olympic Committee (COC), the country will be represented by 635 athletes who will compete in the 33 sports and 54 disciplines of the Games.

For the realization of the Bolivarianos, the government invested 110,000 million pesos (about 27.3 million dollars), of the total 189.000 million pesos (about 47 million dollars) needed to develop the skills.

A total of 3,264 athletes from 11 countries will participate, including 1,547 women and 1,717 men in 33 sports and 54 modalities, for which more than 400 medals will be awarded.
