Barranquilla hosts the fourth Caribbean chess tournament

Barranquilla, Villavicencio and Bucaramanga will host the face-to-face semifinals of the IV Caribbean Chess Tournament A La Rueda Rueda, for which a total of 648 chess players have qualified.

The first date will be held in the town of Villavicencio, at the Estelar Hotel on August 20, where 225 girls, boys and adolescents between 6 and 17 years old will compete in the 5 categories. The next meeting will take place in the Atlantic capital, more precisely in Combarranquilla, Boston, on August 27, where 268 players will compete, while it will take place in Bucaramanga on September 10, where 128 boards will be found.

In this version, both amateurs and experts of scientific sports will participate, competing in the tournament modality 148 and in the Festival 500. From these meetings, the 80 finalists of the two modalities will be selected, who will compete in the grand final in Barranquilla on the 1 and October 2.

To encourage participation and strengthen players’ skills; The ‘A La Rueda’ foundation is giving the 5 tournament champions a trip to participate in the South American School Championship that will take place from November 30 to December 6 in Paraguay. The 5 champions of the festival modality will participate in a virtual camp with Jorge Cori.
