KNVB: stricter licensing obligation for stadium security

There is also an annual mandatory training day for club managers as part of stadium security. These two decisions were taken during the General Assembly of professional football. The aim is to further strengthen infrastructure and organizational security controls in football stadiums. Both recommendations stem from the long-term vision drawn up by the safety working group.

The working group, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, recently had vibration measurements carried out into the impact of fan jumps on stadium construction during professional football matches. The first results of these vibration measurements have been made and are being analysed.

The KNVB believes that as the organizer of the match, it must take far-reaching measures for stadium security. “But a football association does not have the professional construction knowledge necessary to test the safety of stadiums,” the association said. “For this, the professional football sector needs the government. The KNVB has previously defended and continues to emphasize the importance of the British model, with an independent expert responsible for assessing stadium safety for all stadiums.”
