1 Princess Amalia is grateful that she has found a room despite a housing shortage

Princess Amalia is grateful that, despite the housing shortage in the Netherlands, she has found a room in Amsterdam. The crown prince tells this to NU.nl during the annual summer photo shoot with the royal family.

Living with a roommate in the capital, Amalia realizes that many students have difficulty finding accommodation. “I also have friends who had trouble finding a room last year. So I am very thankful that I was able to find a room. I look forward to living there with other students.”

Queen Máxima thinks her daughter will learn a lot from this experience. Máxima said: ‘Your parents used to tell you what to do. Now you have to set the rules yourself and set priorities with other students,” she says. The Queen considers this a good preparation for Amalia’s adult life.

“Amalia is ready for this new phase”

King Willem-Alexander, who drew his daughter’s attention to the existence of his studies Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE), also believes this responsibility is a good learning opportunity for Amalia. ‘As a child, your parents seem to hold back everything, but owning your own house comes with a lot of responsibilities. This is a new phase in life and I think Amalia is ready.”

It is the first time that the press is allowed to question Amalia during the photo shoot. The photo shoot was originally supposed to take place in the beach bar La Cantina, but was postponed due to weather conditions.

This is the first photo shoot since June last year. In February, the annual session of the winter sports holidays in Lech was cancelled. The Government Information Service (RVD) later reported that the Oranges only wanted to be photographed if the family was complete.

The RVD also notes that photo shoots are no longer linked to winter and summer holidays. Princess Alexia was unable to come to Lech last winter because of her education in Wales.
