Botic van de Zandschulp starts at Wimbledon in 25th place in the world ranking. Despite being knocked out in the first round of the Mallorca grass tournament, it moved up a spot in the ATP rankings published Monday.
Never before was the 26-year-old Van de Zandschulp so well in the world ranking. It was at #26 last week and was still #57 at the start of the calendar year. He is the first Dutchman to enter the top 25 of the world ranking since Sjeng Schalken in August 2004.
Tallon’s Greek team advanced to the quarter-finals in Mallorca, but remained in the standings, remaining in 53rd place. Tim van Rijthoven has risen one place to the 104th place in the world ranking.
Van Rijthoven is allowed to participate in Wimbledon thanks to a wildcard. According to their standings, Van de Zandschulp and the Greek track were already confident in their participation. The Greek circuit and Van Rijthoven will start their tournaments on Monday. Van de Zandschulp will make his debut on Tuesday.
Arantxa Rus remains the best Dutch woman in the world ranking.
Russia in 86th place
There has been a change in the top ten: Stéfanos Tsitsipás has moved up one place at the expense of Casper Ruud and is now fifth. Daniil Medvedev tops the world rankings. He, like every other tennis player in Russia and Belarus, is not welcome at Wimbledon because of the war in Ukraine.
There was also a change in the top ten among the women. Our Jabeur climbed to second place at the expense of Anett Kontaveit. Arantxa Rus remains the best Dutchman at 86th.
Wimbledon starts on Monday and lasts until July 10. Novak Djokovic defends the men’s title. The women’s tournament already has a new winner. Australia’s Ashleigh Barty won last year, but has retired from tennis.
