The Trek-Segafredo cycling team hopes to make the Tour of Denmark a party with Mads Pedersen. Trek announced Monday which riders will start in Copenhagen on Friday and what the goals are. “The big goal is to win at least one stage,” said sporting director Kim Andersen. Bauke Mollema is one of those success-seeking day runners. He is on his twelfth round.
As with Emirates’ favorite Tadej Pogacar, the Trek Tour team is made up of eight different nationalities. The host was former world champion Pedersen for the first few days. “It’s a clear goal for the team and Mads to get through the stages during these three days in Denmark,” Andersen said. “First he wants to make a good time trial in Copenhagen and then win the yellow jersey with bonus seconds.”
Andersen also notes that the team of Pedersen and Belgian Jasper Stuyven has two experts for the fifth stage, which takes place partly on the cobblestones of northern France. “Even after that, we often try to break up. We have smart riders who know what it’s like to win.”
The team also includes Italian Giulio Ciccone, Luxembourger Alex Kirsch, Let Toms Skujins, American Quinn Simmons and Frenchman Tony Gallopin.
