On the Zwarte Meer, between Flevoland and Overijssel, a sports plane with two occupants crashed on Tuesday morning. According to firefighters, the device has been found and emergency services are “busy rescuing victims”. A training aircraft of the Self-Flying flight school, where future Transavia pilots are trained, the airline reports.
A spokesman for the fire service said the condition of the two people is not yet known. The location of the small plane had previously been found by emergency services. The waterways to and from the Zwarte Meer are blocked.
Due to the incident, diving teams were called up from, among others, Flevoland and Overijssel. The Coast Guard says it will assist, as well as the Royal Dutch Rescue Company (KNRM). A Coast Guard spokesman says boats, helicopters and planes have stopped at the lake near Urk.
It is unclear whether and what exactly happened, Transavia said, or whether the airline’s future pilots are also on the plane. The company says it is doing everything it can to collect more information about the accident as soon as possible.
The plane would have taken off from Lelystad Airport at 10:44 AM, according to unconfirmed data from RadarBox, an aircraft tracking site. According to this data, it is the Blackshape Gabriel aircraft used by the Self Flying flying school as a training aircraft.
The route the aircraft will follow.
