Hofland sees perspective with Willem II: ‘He can win every match’

On his first day in service at Tilburg, Hofland completed a training course. Namely: it was there but limited to an observational role. “I spoke one-on-one with the actors to find out what they were up to, how they felt, how they were at home. It’s those kind of little things.”

The person behind the player

“The most important thing is that you immediately get to know the person behind the player, so that you know how to proceed. We’re not getting ready for a summer you always have. We want to go there. Let the players do what we want as soon as possible.”

A quick look at the remaining competitive program, including AZ, Feyenoord, Vitesse, PSV and FC Utrecht, gives the average Willem II fan little hope. But Hofland clearly disagrees. “I think every game in the Eredivisie is tough.”

“They often say that when you play against the lower teams, it’s easy. But look at Ajax: against whom are they being forced? against the little ones. In every match we look at the qualifications of the opponent, but we use our own quality. I believe we can win every game.
